Overview

The entry-level supervisory position is responsible for the supervision and motivation of Public Area, Pool Attendant, Room Attendant, Houseperson associates. The Team Captain/Supervisor II will ensure that all guest rooms, public areas, guest pools, and storage areas meet property SSI in all areas including cleanliness, quality and efficiency during any absences of the Director of Housekeeping. 

Responsibilities

Know your job.

· Complete job skills training and possess a clear knowledge of the job

· Know and be able to explain property standards (SSI) and room types

· Actively participate in Pre-shift

 

Be on time.

· Read your schedule, follow attendance guidelines and report to work on time, and in the proper uniform

· Follow clock in and out procedures


Be on stage.

· Maintain a friendly, professional, always willing to assist attitude among guests and other department associates

· Use approved verbiage, scripting when interacting will all guests and following proper procedure/verbiage when entering a guest room


Serve.

· Conduct yourself professionally and collaboratively with guests and fellow associates as in accord with the company’s service culture, “The Keys to Making it Right.”

· Work with the Director of Housekeeping to train and coach Room Attendants, Housepersons, Public Area Attendants and Pool Attendants using the approved training materials to certify each in their role to maintain departmental training compliance.


Work smart.

· Use the Room Attendant Boards with instructions for sequence, special requests and clean types to complete an inspection on each room after it has been cleaned

· Work on the same floor and closely with the Room Attendants and Housepersons assigned to you to ensure the pace of the day is maintained and so that you are readily available should the Room Attendants need your assistance or guidance

· Inspect and score all cleaning rooms methodically and promptly ensuring all guest rooms are clean and set to documented SSI before turning over for occupancy

· Inspect and score all housekeeping linen closets to ensure Housepersons are stocking closets to set PAR levels as well as maintaining cleanliness of all closets and service landings

· Monitor Public Area and Pool Deck Cleanliness with ensuring both public area and pool attendants are to SSI. Give feedback to team on any opportunity areas.

 

Use your tools.

· Ensure cart is clean and set up to standard at all times

· Use the approved tools and checklists to complete assigned tasks

· Collect room assignments from Room Attendants to ensure all rooms have been cleaned, inspected and all deficiencies recorded have been resolved.

· Collect checklists from Houseperson, Public Area Attendants and Pool Attendants to ensure all responsibilities and special projects have been completed.

 

Measure Up.

· Ensure the inspection and turn over of clean guest rooms meet or exceed quality and efficiency standards of the department

· Ensure all prompt response calls have been completed and cleared out of Hotsos.

 

Respect the space.

· Keep your work area, cart and closets clean and organized

· Report and ensure resolution of any deficiencies in rooms or public areas promptly


Be safe.

· Report unsafe work conditions or practices and safety or security violations in accordance with company policy.


Support the Team:

· Cooperate with other Associates and supervisors striving to create a positive work environment and display a role model-like demeanor.

· Support team efforts through carrying out responsibilities in a constructive and professional manner.

Qualifications

  1. Good attitude and work ethic practices
  2. Ability to interact with hotel/resort guests and staff alike
  3. Ability to speak English preferred
  4. Prior housekeeping work experience preferred.
  5. Prior experience and with good references as a Room Attendant, one year preferred, to reflect stability
  6. Good attitude and manner in dealing with people, easy to work with and for
  7. Good verbal communication skills, ability to read and write English
  8. Team building and motivation skills
  9. Willingness to receive development and supervisory training.
Experiencecommensurate or transferable skill set is primary consideration - past work as hospital surgery room inspection, prison cleaning squad leader, etc.
EducationHS - GED - or overseas equivilance is desired.
